About us

Swami Vivekananda Samaja Seva Samsthe is a professionally managed, voluntary, non-profit organization dedicated to inclusive and sustainable community development. The organization was established in 1990 and formally registered in 1993 under the Karnataka Registration Act, 1960. With over three decades of grassroots experience, the organization has been working extensively across rural, interior, drought-prone, and tribal regions of Karnataka.

The organization implements a comprehensive range of socio-economic development, education, health, livelihood promotion, and skill development interventions, in collaboration with community institutions, government departments, and development partners. All programs are designed and executed using a Participatory Development Approach, ensuring active community engagement, leadership development, institutional ownership, and long-term sustainability of outcomes.

  • To enhance the socio-economic status and quality of life of rural poor and vulnerable communities.

  • To undertake soil and water conservation and promote sustainable management of natural resources.

  • To promote self-employment and entrepreneurship through optimal utilization of locally available resources.

  • To introduce innovative and climate-resilient agricultural practices, particularly in dryland farming systems.

  • To advance literacy and functional skills among illiterate and semi-literate rural populations.

  • To conduct capacity-building and skill development programs to foster self-reliance.

  • To work towards gender equity, elimination of discrimination, and holistic empowerment of women.

Through its interventions, Swami Vivekananda Samaja Seva Samsthe remains committed to building resilient, self-reliant, and inclusive rural communities, aligned with national development priorities and community aspirations.
